Brett White’s Lake Sherwood estate offers the kind of exclusivity and resort qualities associated with the properties operated by the development firm he helms.
Now CEO of Discovery Land Company after six years as Cushman & Wakefield’s CEO, White is asking $15.9 million for his 12,000-square-foot property sitting on a 3.5-acre lot, which Redfin data indicates is the priciest home on the market in the upscale community about 40 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
Nicknamed Casa Blanco, White’s Lake Sherwood property totals six beds and 6.5 baths with vaulted ceilings, open concept living and dining areas, a butler’s pantry, a separate wing for the primary suite, a floor-to-ceiling wine cabinet and home theater. Outdoors is a pool, pizza oven and detached structure for a gym. A separate guest house consists of one bed and one bath.
Compass’ Josh Flagg holds the listing on the home at 2616 Greenbank Road, which was developed by David Murdock and designed by Mark Rios and Bob Hale. Nicole Hollis handled the interior design.
While Thousand Oaks has always been a place where luxury buyers have flocked for privacy and generous home sizes, demand for the market is on the upswing, Flagg said.
“Now more than ever, we’re seeing increased interest from those who may have previously considered the Palisades or areas further south, but are now drawn to the space, tranquility and lifestyle that Thousand Oaks provides,” Flagg said.
White bought the land the estate now sits on in 2013, paying $3.3 million for it, records show.
The Lake Sherwood community sits in an unincorporated part of Ventura County’s Santa Monica Mountains and has been a haven for celebrities over the years, including Britney Spears, Tom Petty and Wayne Gretzky. Flagg also handled the listing for the hockey star, who sold his home at 1072 Newbern Court in 2021 for $17.6 million.
Discovery Land tapped White for the top spot at the real estate company in 2022, charged with expanding the business globally. Before joining Discovery Land, White previously served as Cushman & Wakefield executive chairman as well as CEO, and is also a former CBRE CEO and president.
His latest company, with headquarters in Scottsdale, Ariz., develops and operates residential communities and resorts in the U.S. and internationally. These properties include the Austin Surf Club done in partnership with pro surfer Kelly Slater in Texas, private ski and golf community Yellowstone Club in Montana and several others in places such as New York, Florida, Hawaii, Dubai, Costa Rica and the Bahamas.
