A Brentwood home with a private rail system leading to upscale yurts is on the market for $40 million, marking one of the priciest homes currently for sale in the neighborhood.

The over 12,500-square-foot property at 11968 Brentridge Drive is the third-most expensive listing in Brentwood, according to Zillow records.

F. Ron Smith and David Berg of Smith & Berg Property Group at Compass have the listing.

The seller is a limited liability company called Brentridge Drive, property and state records show. The LLC purchased the home in 2014 for $7.6 million, according to the deed.

The contemporary pad, designed by Ramin and Pamela Shamshiri of Studio Shamshiri, has eight beds and 11 baths on a 1.2-acre lot.

Unique to the manse is an operational funicular, an incline cable rail system, that carries passengers up to two yurts offering ocean views. Other highlights include underground garage access with room for six cars, gardens, 20-foot ceilings and a private roof terrace. The property consists of a main residence and a guest house.

“It’s one of Los Angeles’ most significant residential offerings, featuring design elements and amenities rarely seen even among the city’s ultra-luxury homes,” Smith said.

Berg called out the property’s architecture, “museum-quality finishes” and privacy, all of which he said “redefines contemporary luxury living.”

Brentridge Drive further pads Brentwood’s inventory of pricy properties.

Topping the neighborhood’s most expensive listings is 11740 Crescenda Street, which has a $64.5 million ask. The property, listed by Carolwood Estates’ Drew Fenton and Andrew Beyer, has eight beds and 13 baths across 20,000 square feet.

The next priciest, sitting just ahead of Brentridge Drive, is a $47 million listing at 470 Layton Way. It counts eight beds and 10 baths across 25,000 square feet. The Beverly Hills Estates’ Branden Williams and Rayni Williams have the listing.
