A Beverly Hills estate designed by famed architect Richard Landry — often referred to as the “king of the megamansions” — traded this month for $37.1 million.

A trust associated with Fred and Susan Kunik bought the five-bedroom, 10-bathroom home at 1006 North Roxbury Drive, according to property records. Fred Kunik is the CEO, CFO and secretary of check-cashing chain Continental Currency Services headquartered in Santa Ana. The seller was tied to the Alipour Family Heritage Trust.

Aaron Kirman, Kirby Gillon and Bryce Lowe of Christie’s AKG had the listing, while Carolwood Estates’ Drew Fenton represented the buyer.

The property first hit the market with a $45 million listing price in 2021 before being removed the following year, according to listing sites. It was once again placed on the market last year for the same price and was once again removed in March.

Landry, who helms Landry Design Group, is often enlisted for high-end residential projects. His firm’s portfolio includes homes designed for Kourtney Kardashian, Tom Brady and Mark Wahlberg among other high-profile clients.

The 20,422-square-foot Roxbury Drive property sits on more than half an acre and draws design inspiration from Italy. It boasts a garage that can house more than a dozen cars, 54-foot pool, gym, fountains, library, 400-bottle wine room and chef’s kitchen.

The sale price is comparable to another Beverly Hills mansion placed on the market earlier this month on Loma Linda Drive for $35 million, or an option to lease for $59,000 a month. The two estates are just minutes from each other with the 7,500-square-foot Loma Linda glass house designed by architect Ed Niles.

Coldwell Banker Realty’s Jade Mills and Roza Mehdizadeh have the Loma Linda listing.
