The granddaughter of Canadian business mogel Samuel Bronfman sold her 4.6-acre Bel Air compound for $85 million, four times more than she paid for it in 2002.
Ellen Bronfman Hauptman and her husband Andrew Hauptman’s now-sold property includes a 19,000-square-foot main house designed by minimalist British architect John Pawson, according to the Wall Street Journal, which reported the sale. It also includes a 6,600-square-foot guest house by prolific L.A. architect Paul Revere Williams. Both houses feature five bedrooms. Three of the bedrooms in the main house also feature terraces.
The main house was built in 2009 and was designed as two stacked square masses, with the upper portion cantilevered over the lower floor. It includes a theater, gym and spa. The grounds also feature a pool and a tennis court.
The home was not listed publicly. Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency was the broker. The Hauptman’s together run the investment firm Andell Inc.
