It’s (actually) happening: Soho Warehouse in the Arts District breaks ground

The private club’s rumored move skyrocketed price of surrounding real estate

Updated, Thursday, September 21, 2017, 12:10 p.m.: After two years of speculation, members-only club Soho House broke ground on its Arts District location.

Soho Warehouse, designed by Killefer Flammang Architects, will reside in the six-story, 100-year-old building at 1000 S. Santa Fe Avenue, Urbanize reported.

The project will offer performance rooms, a spa, a gym, 48 hotel rooms, a film screening room, a restaurant, a club and a pool terrace across its floors, which span over 62,000 square feet.

It is scheduled to open in 2018. The location will be Soho House’s third in Los Angeles County. It already hold court in Malibu and West Hollywood.

When rumors that the London private club was going to open in the neighborhood started swirling, prices and trading volume immediately shot up for the area. Buildings were trading at $242 a square feet prior to the announcement, but drastically rose to $655 a square foot months later, after the deal closed, according to data from JLL cited by the L.A. Business Journal.
