Blizzard Entertainment, the video game developer known for the “World of Warcraft” franchise, is moving into Worthe Real Estate Group’s Burbank Studios.
The Irvine-based subsidiary of video game giant Activision Blizzard is taking a stage and surrounding facilities at the 35-acre studio lot at 3000 W. Alameda Avenue, sources said. Blizzard inked the 54,000-square-foot deal earlier this summer.
Matthew Miller of Cresa represented Blizzard in the deal, while JLL’s Carl Muhlstein represented Worthe. The brokers could not be reached for comment.
Burbank Studios was master-planned by Gehry Partners and developed by Worthe, which acquired it from NBC in 2008. Other tenants at the lot include Nickelodeon, Warner Brothers and iHeartRadio.
Blizzard has leased over 400,000 square feet of space in and around its Irvine headquarters. Activision, meanwhile, is headquartered at Santa Monica Business Park, which Blackstone recently listed for sale. It also has an office in the Valley, at LNR Warner Center IV.
The demand for sound stages in Los Angeles is far outpacing supply, with occupancy rates hovering at around the 100 percent-mark.
