Last week, Burbank voters approved Measure B, allowing airport officials to move forward with a 14-gate replacement terminal at the Hollywood Burbank Airport.

The measure laid out a development agreement between the city of Burbank and the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, which has been looking to replace the existing terminal since 1978.

Airport officials proposed a two-story 355,000-square-foot facility on a portion of the 59-acre site along Hollywood Boulevard known as parcel B6. The Airport Authority sold the property to the developer Overton Moore Properties in 2015 for $72.5 million.

The existing 232,000-square-foot terminal will be demolished to make way for the new facility.

Frank Miller, the airport’s executive director, expects to begin working with the Federal Aviation Administration in February to develop an airport layout plan. Before then, the airport authority will sample the soil to make sure they can build.
