This week in renderings: Icon Panorama, Queen Mary

This week’s most eye-popping images include renderings of Beverly Hills-based Icon Company’s revised plans for its $150 million mixed-use project in Panorama City. The size-reduced project would have 423 apartment units totaling 384,000 square feet and 200,000 square feet of commercial space, according to filings with the city. In January, Icon had submitted plans for 350 apartments and 250,000 square feet of commercial space. The seven-building project would replace three unoccupied commercial buildings on the lot — the Montgomery Ward store, a car repair shop, and restaurant — that total to 172,000 sf.  Hochhauser Blatter is designing the project.

Renderings reveal Urban Commons plan for the $15 million renovation of the Queen Mary ocean liner docked in Long Beach. Urban assumed the 66-year master lease of the ship in April 2016, and has worked with architecture firm Gensler on a plan to bring contemporary design elements to the ship. Renovations in each of the 346 original first class staterooms and nine suites will be “all-encompassing,” according to a release from Urban Commons, and will include new furniture, carpet and lighting. — Hannah Miet
