Beverly Hills developer Jona Goldrich dies at 88

Beverly Hills developer, property owner and philanthropist Jona Goldrich died Sunday at age 88.

Born in Lviv, Poland, Goldrich survived his parents and brother during the Holocaust, the Beverly Hills Courier reported.

He immigrated to the U.S. in the late 1940s and worked as a window screen installer in Los Angeles. In 1954, he started his own company, a construction clean-up service called Active Cleaning & Maintenance.

Three years later, Goldrich co-founded Goldrich & Kest Industries with fellow Holocaust survivor Sol Kest. The pair would go on to develop condos, care facilities, luxury apartments, industrial buildings, hotels and more recently, mixed-use complexes.

The company currently owns 211 properties in Southern California and the Bay Area, according to its website. [Beverly Hills Courier]Cathaleen Chen
