These are the priciest home sales of 2016’s first quarter

L.A. may shadow New York City in luxury home sales, but the priciest sales of the first quarter of 2016 were hardly steals. In fact, the biggest on-the-market sale neared $30 million.

In TRData‘s analysis of Redfin and PropertyShark data, Hollywood Hills took the gold. The West L.A. neighborhood accounts for four of the 10 most expensive homes sold in the first three months of 2016.

10. Hollywood Hills — $13.2 million

Sitting on half an acre of L.A.’s most coveted land, the estate features five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Located in the Hollywood Hills’ Bird Streets, the property sold on March 23. Benjamin Bacal of Rodeo Realty Beverly Hills was the listing agent and Hilton & Hyland’s Tyrone McKillen represented the buyer.

9. Malibu —  $13.9 million

A 4,000-square-foot beachfront residence at 29020 Cliffside Drive sold for $13.9 million, according to PropertyShark. The California-style home was built in 1976 and has four bedrooms and five bathrooms.

What goes well with a new baby? A new house. This modern manor is now the home of singer John Legend and model Chrissy Teigen, who are expecting their first child. Measuring 8,520 square feet, the property at 9152 Janice Place has five bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Mia Trudeau of Hilton & Hyland listed the property and Steven Moritz of Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyers.

7. San Marino — $14.4 million

Built in 1996, this 12,946-square-foot Colonial-style abode was sold February for $14.4 million. The property sits on nearly three acres of land, encompassing six bedrooms, 11 baths, three garages, a chauffeur’s quarters, a gym, a pool and spa, a regulation sized tennis court and two fountains. Majestic, indeed. Julia Kwon and Janice Lee of Berkshire Hathaway were the listing agents.

6. Malibu — $14.5

Another beachfront bungalow, this one a Harry Gesner-designed residence that sits on 100 feet of sand, sold in the first quarter. With three bedrooms and four bathrooms, the property at 33618 Pacific Coast Highway was purchased in January. Christopher Cortazzo of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage listed the property and Matt Rapf, of Pritchett-Rapf & Associates, was the buyer’s agent.

5. Hollywood Hills — $16.3 million

For $16.3 million, the minimalist pad at 9312 Nightingale Drive came with four bedrooms, seven bathrooms and a host of A-list celebrity neighbors, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Keanu Reeves. The Bird Streets section of Hollywood Hills is currently one of the most sought-after neighborhoods.

Sotheby’s calls this one “museum quality.” The contemporary four-bedroom house was acquired by an LLC connected to San Francisco development firm SPI Holdings in January. Jodi Rubin of Sotheby’s was the listing agent. Gregory Dean of the Dean Company represented the buyer.

3. Holmby Hills — $18.5 million

Double the price of the average home in the neighborhood, this 8,460-square-foot estate was built in 1939. The residence at 243 Delfern Drive has seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a lot that’s nearly two acres. Jade Mills of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage represented both the buyer and the seller.

Meanwhile, the market remained hot in the Hollywood Hills, especially in the Bird Streets. This 8,290-square-foot contemporary home was built as a spec house just this year.  According to public records, this “trophy” of a manor went to marketing executive Mark Kress, who was represented by Michael Eisenberg of Keller Williams Beverly Hills. The listing agent was Hilton & Hyland’s Justin Paul Huchel.

That’s right, you guessed it. This one is in the Bird Streets. Featuring a gym, spa, theater, outdoor kitchen and infinity pool, the residence took four years to build, its listing site boasted. Spanning 12,530 square feet, it may not be the biggest house on this list but it offers the best city views. Branden Williams of Hilton & Hyland was the listing agent. Patty Waltcher of Coldwell Banker represented the buyer.
