An estate in Geneva changed hands this month for $4.85 million, marking the largest residential transaction ever recorded in Kane County.
The home at 834 Sunset Road sold on Jan. 21 for about $866 per square foot, nearly double its 2021 sales price of $2.5 million, or $446 per square foot, Shaw Local reported. The deal was brokered by Meg Whitted of Baird & Warner, who has been a key player in recent high-value sales in the area.
There were five sales over $3 million in Kane County in the past year, and she brokered three of them, the outlet reported.
The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom estate offers a floor plan that blends luxury and family-friendly living. Among its standout features is a stainless steel slide that connects the first floor to a lower-level gymnasium.
The main level includes a great room, dining area, and kitchen with vaulted ceilings and painted beams.
A sunroom and family area both open to a large outdoor entertainment space with a pool, hot tub, outdoor kitchen and gas firepit. The home includes laundry rooms on both floors and is equipped with smart home technology.
Luxury sales in Kane County last year included a 3.1 million home on Dover Hill Road, a $3.2 million property on Crane Road, a $3.6 million estate on Longmeadow Lane and a $3 million home on Campton Hills Road.
“The ultra luxury market for our area is really very exciting,” Whitted said. “We finally got to this place in St. Charles and Geneva where a lot of these sales are happening.”
