Nate Davis is moving back the line of scrimmage on his luxury suburban Chicago listing.
The former Chicago Bears offensive lineman cut roughly 20 percent off the asking price of his 5,500-square-foot home in Highland Park, a northern suburb of Chicago.
The NFL player has readjusted the price of his four-bedroom, five-bathroom estate in east Highland Park by $1 million, lowering the asking price to just under $4 million after putting it on the market in December for $5 million, Crain’s reported. Paul Gorney of eXp Realty continues to manage the listing.
The luxury residential market in Highland Park is notable for its multi-million dollar listings. However, many of these high-end homes often involve price adjustments before securing a buyer, including a recent high-profile deal involving another famous former Chicago pro athlete..
The 56,000-square-foot former mansion of NBA legend Michael Jordan was sold for $9.5 million after originally hitting the market for $29 million over a decades prior; the new owner, John Cooper, is offering shares of the estate to the public with bids starting at $1 million to lock in a week every year during which each partial owner would be able to use the property and host gatherings.
A 10,000-square-foot Highland Park mansion that once belonged to Jordan’s all-time-great former Bulls teammate Scottie Pippen also recently sold, for nearly $2.7 million, after making multiple price cuts.
Davis, who was cut from the Bears in November, is now looking to sell 1117 Wade Street for about $727 per square foot, down from the $909 per square foot it originally listed for at the end of 2024 but still a profit compared to the $2.3 million, or $418 per square foot, he paid for the home in May 2023. He bought it shortly after he signed a three-year $30 million contract with the Bears in 2023.
The home features a Prairie Revival-style exterior with a strong focus on natural lighting, three fireplaces and a butler’s pantry. The primary bedroom suite includes its own laundry room and a screened-in porch, while the lower floor is equipped with a gym, bar, game room, and a large area suitable for movie nights and gatherings.
Built in 2003 and designed by architect Michael Hershenson, Davis’s home underwent recent renovations, including new hardwood floors, stairs and a fresh coat of paint. The kitchen now features custom cabinetry, a stone-topped island and modern appliances, while the bathrooms were updated with contemporary fixtures, walk-in showers and stylish tile designs.
The property adjoins the iconic former Ben Rose auto pavilion, featured in the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”
