A Naperville mansion that just changed hands is nipping at the heels of the priciest residential sale on record in the southwest suburb.
Thomas F. Harter Sr., a former Navistar executive, sold his 21,700-square-foot home at 1112 Shamrock Court for more than $7.5 million, or about $347 per square foot, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Lauren Dayton of Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty was the listing agent. The buyers’ identities have not been disclosed.
It’s the second-highest residential transaction ever in Naperville, behind only the 9,300-square-foot home at 222 West Van Buren Avenue that sold for nearly $8.1 million via auction in November.
The Shamrock Court mansion, listed at $10.5 million, was poised to smash records when it went under contract last month. Large price chops for homes in the eight-figures ballpark have been somewhat common since last year due to dwindling demand, driven by high-mortgage rates.
The Tudor-style brick and limestone mansion, built in 2017 and situated on a 2.5-acre lot, has seven bedrooms, nine full bathrooms, three half bathrooms and eight fireplaces. The main floor features a great room with a towering stone fireplace and French doors, while the kitchen boasts dual islands, quartzite countertops and top-of-the-line appliances.

The first-floor primary bedroom suite exudes luxury with a custom turret, private sitting room and a spa-like bathroom featuring a Kohler computerized stone walk-in shower and heated floors.
The mansion also includes a hearth room and library. The lower level has a sports bar with custom leather and wood, a movie theater, a fitness room and a spa. The basement houses 3,000-bottle wine cellar behind iron doors, the outlet said.
The residence incurred a property tax bill of $83,939 in the 2022 tax year.
