A seven-bedroom Lake Forest mansion that was home to the co-founder and former CEO of Medline Industries is set to go on the market next month.
The 15,042-square-foot mansion at 500 North Green Bay Road in the northern Chicago suburb was home to James S. Mills and his wife Vicki for more than 40 years, the Chicago Tribune reported.. The couple bought the 3.5-acre property in 1977 and kept it in the family until Jim died in July 2019, and Vicki died last month.
Jena Radnay of @properties is the listing agent for the estate that’s known as Pembroke Lodge. Built in 1895, the two-story main home was created for real estate and zinc mining entrepreneur David Benton Jones. The property stayed in his family for 67 years until Robert O. Lehmann, a descendant of one of Chicago’s early retail families, bought it in 1962. The Mills were only the third owners of the estate.
Constructed with Wisconsin limestone, the mansion has eight full bathrooms and three half baths, four fireplaces and a game room. The primary bedroom suite was inspired by Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and has gold-topped black columns and statues.
The property also has historic statues throughout, a recently added English garden, swimming pool, tennis court, pool house and warming house. There is also a two-story, six-car garage that was built in 2009.

The property, which will be listed for about $5 million, had a tax bill of $86,684 in 2021.
