Tom Ricketts’ Hickory Street Capital is looking for a new tenant now that ex-Cub Joe Maddon has struck out with his Wrigleyville restaurant.
The 7,400 square-foot Maddon’s Post, located next to Wrigley Field, has shuttered, Eater reported. Maddon, who skippered the Cubs to a World Series title in 2016, signed in October to manage the Los Angeles Angels. Ricketts is the Cubs’ co-owner, and Hickory Street is the real estate development the family co-owns.
A representative for Hickory Street confirmed it was looking for a new tenant for the space at 1119 W. Waveland Ave., just seven months after Maddon’s Post opened, according to the report. The rep said Hickory Street would prefer an upscale restaurant in the space, but would be open to other options.
Maddon had partnered with chef Tony Mantuano, whose Near North Side Bar Toma pizza restaurant closed in 2017. Sterling Organization picked up the 9,400-square-foot ground-floor retail condo in May 2018 for $15.2 million.
