Lincoln Yards development kicks off with new soccer fields
Sterling Bay’s Lincoln Yards megaproject has begun rising from the ground. A soccer field and two mini-fields have risen at the 55-acre site near the border of Lincoln Park and Bucktown. The sports fields will be completed by July 28, 18 months early, and represent the first part of the $6 billion project to rise from the ground. The fields are part of a 21-acre park that Lincoln Yards will build, although final plans for the greenspace have not been publicly presented. [Block Club]

Mark Fishman pays hefty price for Logan Square apartments
The prolific Logan Square landlord paid $5.35 million for a 41-unit apartment building in the trend Northwest Side neighborhood, nearly double its sale price in 2015. Chicago-based Hanover Hamilton Investments bought the building 1627 North Humboldt Boulevard in 2015 for $2.78 million before embarking on a significant renovation. The deal isn’t out of line for Logan Square, which has seen exploding property values among heavy investor activity. [Crain’s]

Suburban mall owners seeking subsidy to redevelop shuttered Macy’s
The owners of Stratford Square Mall in suburban Bloomingdale are asking the city’s help in revitalizing the shopping center. Owners StreetMAC Asset Managers has asked the village of Bloomingdale for as much as $2 million in tax increment financing to demolish a vacant Macy’s and make room for a Woodman’s Food Market. The 234,000-square-foot grocery store wouldn’t be attached to the mall. StreetMAC is seeking reimbursement for the demolition costs. [Daily Herald]

“Chicago P.D” star lists West Loop loft
Sophia Bush, former star of the locally filmed TV show “Chicago P.D.,” is seeking a buyer for her West Loop loft condo. The 3,500-square-foot unit has 12-foot ceilings, private elevator access, a rooftop terrace and an open floor plan. She’s seeking $2.25 million. Bush starred on “Chicago P.D.” from 2014 to 2017. Logan Square church-turned-apartments trades hands
A venture of JAB Real Estate has sold a Logan Square church building that the firm previously converted into a nine-unit rental complex. Picking up the property is a private investor, who paid $4.33 million. The church at 2900 West Logan Boulevard was built 1906 but, like many other places of worship, has found a second life as rentals. [Connect Media]
