Plan for condos in old Humboldt Park church in doubt

A plan to convert a former Humboldt Park church into condos is in jeopardy after running into community opposition. Point B Properties wants to turn the building at 3300 West Pierce Avenue into 13 condos that would each list for up to $250,000. But a number of neighbors who attended a meeting this week on the project opposed it. They say the building instead should become affordable apartments. Alderman Roberto Maldonado (26th) said he’d only support a zoning change for the project if a majority of residents support it. [Block Club]

Orland Park mansion designed in spirit of Frank Lloyd Wright hitting market

A 15,000-square-foot Orland Park house that evokes Frank Lloyd Wright homes is set to hit the market at $3.5 million. Dave and Ruth Gust said their 13-year-old home has nods to the Robie House in Hyde Park and Wright’s own home and studio in suburban Oak Park, among others. Oak Park considers affordable housing requirements for developers

Oak Park officials are drawing up rules designed to increase the amount of affordable housing in the village. The regulations could require up to 10 percent of new housing units be set aside as affordable housing. As with similar rules in Chicago, developers in Oak Park could opt to pay into a village fund to opt out of some of the requirements, at a cost of $50,000 to $100,000 per unit. Additional recommendations include the creation of density, height or parking bonuses in exchange for affordable units. [Oak Leaves]

REVA proposes Glen Ellyn apartments

A Chicago developer is proposing a 48-unit apartment complex in Glen Ellyn. REVA Development Partners wants to erect the four-story building on a site bounded by Duane Street, Prospect Avenue and Melrose Avenue. The developer said the $18-20 million project would feature condo-quality finishes and underground parking and would be marketed to empty nesters. The firm will seek tax increment financing incentives from the village. [Daily Herald]

Belgravia moving forward with Triangle Square condo project

Belgravia Group is launching sales for the 66 condominiums in its Triangle Square development in Bucktown. The mixed-use project at 1701 West Webster Avenue also will feature 300 apartments along with retail and office space. [REJournals]
