The widow of boxing legend Muhammad Ali sold the couple’s 81-acre estate in southwest Michigan, which The Champ bought in the 1970s when he lived on Chicago’s South Side.
The home sold for $2.5 million to New York-based Turken Foundation, a nonprofit established by Turkey’s two major foundations, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Ali, who died in 2016, later moved to Los Angeles and Arizona, but used the estate in Berrien Springs as a retreat. His widow, Lonnie, first listed the property in June for precisely $2,895,037 — a sum chosen as a nod to Ali’s 37 career knockouts.
Listing agent Tim Mitchell of Cressy & Everett Real Estate told the Tribune the property drew interest from possible buyers as far away as Indonesia and Dubai.
