Project billed as city’s largest industrial warehouse clears final hurdle

Marina Crossings will comprise 633K square feet, set to rise in Back of the Yards

An industrial warehouse being built on spec in the South Side and marketed as the largest of its kind inside the city limits, received its final construction permit.

Dubbed Marina Crossings, the warehouse will be located at 2075 West 43rd St., in Back of the Yards.

The stated value on the permit was $21 million. It was unclear whether that was the full cost of the project. A permit for the foundation was issued in February, and work is expected to be completed later this year.

The property owner is Marina Cartage, a Chicago-based trucking company, which purchased the site in 2015.

Cushman & Wakefield has the leasing assignment.

The Chicago industrial market is surging this year as demand grows for warehouse space, including last-mile facilities for online retailers. Mariana Crossings will rise near factories like Pepsi, Vienna Beef, Rexam, Vantage and OSI Group.
